Snowmen, Sparkles, and Pinecones

I love a variety at Christmastime. 

I love simple, but I also love sparkles.

I love nature, but I also love glitter.

At Christmastime, I can marry all that I love.

I also have to bring my simple tastes together with my children’s “let’s go all out” taste.

My Christmas fireplace showed a little of both styles.

My beautiful old German dough bowl filled with sparkly ornaments, pinecones, and fresh greens captures all that we love..

We’ve got sparkles and we have nature…

A little further beyond my coffee table is another little white table filled with Christmas!

This little snowman is probably the last thing left in my house that came from Kirkland’s.  He is a favorite “friend” of ours during the cold winter months.

Baskets of pinecones and greens are such a beautiful thing.

Our Christmas Fireplace

Hey friends!

I am sitting in my house today enjoying lots of sparkling lights, smelling fresh cedar, and just soaking in all of the Christmas we have filled our home with.

I love when the Christmas decorating is done and then I can sit and enjoy.

A cozy fireplace is a priority when I begin thinking about how I want my living room to look and feel.

I have used fresh greenery and pinecones in abundance this year.

Those are just a few of my favorite things.

The Ones Who Make Me Smile

Hey my friends!

 

Nothing about my home today.

 

I just want to share a few thanksgivings with you.

 

These two lovely girls make me smile…

 

 

and they make me laugh…

 

 

They love each other with an indescribable love…

 

 

My girls bless my heart beyond measure.

 

Add this sweet young man to the mix and it really makes me smile…

 

 

This guy is my youngest hero.

 

To see the love they all have for each other is such a blessing…

 

 

The one who has made me smile for over twenty years is this fella…

 

 

There is nothing like seeing the love a daddy has for his children.

 

The most important thing about this guy with the great smile is that he is the one who introduced me to Jesus!

(which makes him my number 1 hero)

 

And these, my friends, are why I smile.

 

 

This Thanksgiving week, I am so truly thankful to the Lord for my precious family.  They are a gift from the Lord.

 

I also praise the Lord that this Thanksgiving my mom is cancer free!!!  Thank you Lord Jesus!!

 

I pray that each one who reads this will praise the Lord for someone or something in their lives right now.  I pray that you will smile because the Lord created you in His image and you are wonderful!

Colors of Christmas

Hey friends.

 

It’s been several days since I posted because I have been doing fun stuff with my girlies in preparation for Christmas.

 

Every year around this time, we get the crafting bug.  I really am not a very crafty person except at Christmas time and then it hits, and we spend days painting, gluing, and glittering… all while listening to Christmas music.

 

This year it was so funny to see the different color schemes that each one of us chose.  Of course, my girls would say that I have no color scheme because I use such neutral colors.

 

These are the colors that Faith chose to use for her room this year to go along with her newly painted pink room.  See it HERE.

And then there is me…

 

Remember that I love neutrals with bits of color here and there.

 

 

 

 

 

I will be using lots of natural elements this year in my decorating. 

 

I will also be using the pretty blue green that I love. 

 

I plan on using fresh cranberry garland, strands of popcorn, and lots of pinecones.

 

The girls plan on using lots and lots of glitter and sparkle and bright colors.

 

I love the differences in our home and in our tastes. 

 

I so love this time of year and the anticipation of Christmas.

It’s the Little Things

Hey sweet friends.

So glad the weekend is here and fun things are on the calendar for the next couple of days.

I have to tell you that I am really a pretty simple person. 

Small things make me happy.

Little gifts make me smile.

Give me a pack of chewing gum and you have spoken my love language loudly.

I was playing around in our house yesterday and was reminded how much I am okay with simplicity.

Beautifully dried hydrangeas in an old pitcher…

A crock filled with a few favorite things…

… a pair of my grandmother’s scissors and a pair of her eyeglasses… a set of copper nails that my brother recently gave me because he knows I love copper… a neat old white measuring stick

All of these things make me smile.

Corral all of these things on this great old piece and I love them even more.

I have shown you this wood and metal piece before.  Still don’t know what it is but still love it.

I don’t think I showed you the great metal basket that I found on my last flea market trip.

I filled it with some of my favorite decorating books for easy pick up.

A Cozy Day

Another beautiful day we are having in Tennessee.

The sun is shining bright.

The temperature is 46 degrees outside.

I still have on my comfy pjs because I can teach school in pajamas.  How wonderful!

I got up this morning and took a few photos in our entryway.

I made this wreath during craft time with my girls this week.  What fun it was to make these simple little flowers.

We love working on Christmas and winter crafts this time of year.

I have been buying these beautiful plaid scarves from Goodwill when I find them.

I had to show you a close up of what’s on top of my stack of books.  My grandfather chewed Red Man tobacco for years and years and years.  His “chaw” he called it.  When I found this Red Man belt buckle, I had to get it in memory of him.

The little sweater cozy is from the sleeve of an old sweater of mine.

Love how the sweater warms up the candle and how the candle warms up the entry way.

Cozy days indeed…
