A Few Graduation Dress Ups

Our oldest child graduated this past weekend after homeschooling for eleven years.

Bravo!   Hooray!  Congrats!

We are so proud of him!

keith diploma

So awesome that dad gets to give Keith his diploma.

family grad

Homeschooling is definitely a family affair.

After the ceremony, we had a few people over for an informal lunch to celebrate Keith and his big day.

Because Keith doesn’t like a lot attention drawn to himself, I decided to just add a few little “party touches” here and there.

This little chalkboard greeted our guests as they arrived.

I made this simple little banner with my tea stained tags and hung each one with a mini clothespin.

napkins

Words are always nice additions to any décor.

Fresh flowers always make people smile.

I was able to add another personal touch by using photos of Keith growing up.  I put them on an old cabinet door that I had picked up at an estate sale.

Such sweet memories of this child.

seats

I added a little extra seating by bringing in these old theater seats.

pictures

A couple of more photos added so that mama could ooo and ahhh over her baby boy…I mean young man.

We didn’t go overboard with decorations, but added a few simple touches that worked just perfectly for the occasion.   Most of all, we had a wonderful day with family and friends celebrating Keith and all of his accomplishments.

Congratulations to those of you who also had children or grandchildren graduating this year.  Sweet times!!

My kids love to tease me about loving anything that is WWW…White, Wood, Weathered.
Yep, they are pretty much right…no arguments there.
For mother’s day, my three sweet babies, along with their daddy, went to a local antique store to pick me out the perfect gift.
They were spot on!!

Little White Cabinet and a Little White Toolbox

Remember my uncle…
Yeah, the one with all of the great stuff that he picks up on his many junking trips.
Well, he recently picked up a few new little white goodies with me in mind.
I love when he thinks about me when he is out treasure hunting.
This little cabinet is one of the things I just brought home…

It sits next to my big oversized recliner and holds all of those things you might need while you’re settled in for a night of rest and relaxation.

Easy Hot Fudge Cake

This is one of those easy recipes that is semi homemade but fully delicious.

I wanted to share it with you because my husband and son made it the other night for the girls and me and it was such a treat.

cake 1

This is how simple this recipe is…

They used a box of chocolate cake mix, hot fudge syrup, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream.

After the cake was baked, they split the slices and layered them with ice cream and hot fudge.  They topped the scrumptious goodness with whipped cream.

That’s it!

Nothing was made except for the cake.  You could, of course, make everything from scratch and that would be wonderful, but this was FANTASTIC just as it was.

The fact that my boys made it for us made it even more delightful!

TO MY LADY FRIENDS….

I want to say a happy early mother’s day to all of you mothers out there and all of you precious ladies who play such a big part in so many people’s lives.  God has a wonderful  purpose for all of our lives!

God bless all of you my sweet sweet friends.  God loves you and so do I!!!!

If  my mom is reading this, I want to say happy mother’s day to you and I love you so very much.    Thanks for all that you do for me.

For anyone with sadness in their heart this mother’s day, please remember that God has great big arms just waiting to hold you.

La Famille @ Home

If you haven’t already met Alicia from La Famille @ Home, then you have missed out on a real treat.

Alicia is a homeschooling mama who has been blessed with major creative genes.

Her home is beautiful, her children are beautiful, she is beautiful and she loves the Lord and is very open about it.

She also has a wonderful Etsy shop that is full of some of her gorgeous handmade items.  In this shop are some of her great numbered burlap pillows.

Since I am a burlapaholic,  a numberaholic,  a homeschool mom and an etsy shop owner myself, I knew I wanted to show Alicia my support and order from her.  Sounds like I did it for her, but I really did it for me!

Now I want to show you what I ordered…

9-1

Isn’t it a beauty?

Alicia’s pillows were also featured in May’s issue of Country Living Magazine.  How COOL is that!!!

9-3

9-2

I am not going to tell you why 9 is my favorite number again because I have told you so many times before.  I really don’t want to bore my friends who have been around here for awhile.  If you really want to know though, ask me and I will tell you.

9-4

These were all of the extra little goodies that Alicia packaged with my pillow cover.  They were a wonderful surprise.

It’s cool because I have told my family before that when someone orders from my Etsy shop, Amys All Things Home,  I like the whole thing to be a wonderful experience from start to finish.  I love adding little “goodies” with someone’s order so that when they open up their package they get extra little gifts with their order.  I also love to put a personal note in each one so they know how much I appreciate doing “business” with them.

That’s exactly what Alicia did with me.  It was a wonderful “experience” shopping with her.  I know.. I know.. I can be a little on the goofy side sometimes with the whole “experience” thing, but that’s just me.  I want people to leave any situation with me feeling like it was a GOOD THING!

Now you need to run over to Alicia’s Etsy Shop and take a look around.

And if you have a few minutes after you browse around her shop, I would love for you to head over to my shop, Amys All Things Home and spend a few minutes looking around.

Twigs and Twine

I love simplicity and when I saw a sweet little twiggy cross that Prairie Farm Girl's son made from simple twigs and twine, I knew I had to have one.
The fact that her little boy made this for her was precious to me.
What did I do?
I gave my oldest daughter a twig, some twine and instructions to make her mama a cross.
And make it she did and I love it.
Mine looks pretty much just like Prairie Farm Girl’s because I even copied how she hung hers.  Copy cat am I.
This is what my little twiggy cross looks like.

How simple and sweet is that?

Love it!
I’m going to post this little cross over at:

Spring Soiree

My two oldest children went to their home school soiree this weekend.

soiree

We had several of their friends over before the soiree for pictures so I had to make sure there were plenty of ferns and fresh flowers everywhere.

It was wonderful seeing Keith and Beth all dressed up in their finest attire.

k & b 1

Keith is a senior this year and will be graduating after having homeschooled for all but two years of his life.  Beth will be a junior next year.

Indulge me for a moment, please.. . My babies aren’t really babies anymore but they are my gifts from God and I can’t believe they are the age they are.  Actually, they are still my babies no matter what age and I adore them.

Of course, we can’t forget Faith who is eight.  Prom will come soon enough for her, just not too soon, please.

k & b 2

No home change ups today, just showing off two out of three of my sweet children.

God bless you all!

New ETSY updates made tonight if you are interested.
