Taking In the Beauty

Hello to all my friends!

My family and I are soaking in the beauty of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee for a few days and I am taking time away from my computer.  I want to make sure my family have my undivided attention and that they know that they are my main focus.

I will tell you that as I lay in my bed in the hotel, I can look out the window and see the most beautiful cross sitting atop a mountain.  It is breathtaking and I am in awe.  I praise God for sending His Son to die on that old rugged cross for me.

Remember, ladies, that we are all princesses because we are daughters of the King!!!

Christmas Window Vignette (Message On a Window)

Okay, I have decided that instead of “message in a bottle”, I have a “message on a window”. (nuff said on that)

My Christmas window needed a little tweaking so you could read the message a little easier. I added a piece of burlap to the back because we all know that burlap is like Duct tape and will fix anything, right?  (you know most of you agree with that statement)

With a few extra additions, this is how my window vignette turned out.

We had a good ole fashioned popcorn stringing last night and made garland to hang on the top of the window.

About every other piece of popcorn Faith ate off of her garland, so it took her a little longer, but it was so much fun to watch her.

I have been adding Christmas touches to our home all week in between the rest of life, which is always so busy.

Let me make sure to say that I am not forgetting Thanksgiving. 

  I have so much to be thankful to the Lord for and I pray that I express that thankfulness to Him everyday. 

I don’t want to be like the nine lepers who didn’t go back and say thank you after they were healed.  I want to make sure to be like the one who did tell Jesus…Thank You!!  (Luke 17:11-19)

An Old Window With a Christmas Message

I am decorating early.

I know, some of you think I am crazy, but I want it done before Thanksgiving travels begin.  I want to come home to a Christmas filled home where the only thing left to do is put up the tree as a family.

Faith and I decorated our small snowman tree last night that I will show you sometime because it is so fun and so full of one of my favorite things…snowmen.

Today, I began working on my entryway a little bit.

I love my first bit of progress mainly because of the message it brings to all who enter our front door.

 

I will be adding a little more to the rest of the table the window is sitting on, but not too much.  I want to keep the words as the focal point.

Any doubt what The Reason for the season is at our home?

Brilliant Ideas of Christmas

I wish they were my brilliant ideas, but they’re not.

I received my first copy of the beautiful magazine, Jeanne d’ Arc Living today.

Oh, my, at the loveliness! 

My copy came from Lori at Round Barn Potting Co.  Thanks so much, Lori, for hooking me up so nicely.

By the way…my girls have me geared up for early Christmas decorating, so I am up to my eyeballs in STUFF.

I really never decorate this early, but they can’t wait.  (maybe I should include myself as well, because I am pretty excited)

My plans are to do a little bit at a time and spread the love around.

I will show you some of the things I am working on soon.

Cows, Chairs, and Cabinets

Take a look at what my day held yesterday.

My uncle took me back to a 100 year old house that sits behind my mom’s house.  It is falling down as you can see, but still had so much neat personality.   Our friends came for a visit in what was once the kitchen.

This girl was peeking at us through the window.

This is why he really took me back there. 

He wanted to show me what he was going to soon be mine.   Mine would be the chippy white beauty on the right!

Look what spring holds for me…cleaning, painting, sitting, relaxing, loving.

Oh yeah, I love this glider.

My uncle has tons of this kind of stuff just ready to be taken off his hands.

That would be 5 yards of burlap from Sirs Fabric Store in Fayetteville, TN.

This 100 year old jelly cabinet has a new home.

I will be showing her to you again when she is all decked out.

An old quilt that was in my mother’s attic…alone…sad…needing a home other than the attic.

A huge bouquet of lavender that my mom grew and saved for me.  Heavenly fragrance…

I suppose you have already come to the conclusion that everything came home with me except for the beautiful cows.  They had to stay, as I have nothing but a chicken coop for them to live in. 

I’ll show you later what happens to all of my treasures.

***Just a little piece of info about my uncle.  He is a treasure hunter like I have never seen.  Truly, if you ever wanted it, he has it or could find it.  And all of this he just does as a hobby, because he loves it.  He loves the history of it all. 

If there is something you are ever looking for and you live anywhere nearby middle Tennessee, I would love to hook you up with him.  Of course, that also means that I could meet you in person and that would be great.

Any Recommendations On a Juicer?

I am hitting you up once again for your help.

This time around, I would love to know if any of you have any recommendations on a good, reasonably priced juicer.

I bought one from Target a couple of weeks ago and my family fell in love with it and all of the good for us stuff we were drinking.  I really felt like I was giving good nourishment to my family that we don't always get.

  Two days ago, it started leaking from the bottom.  It's now back at Target, and I am on the hunt for a new one.  I cannot spend more than $100 on one and would love for it to be cheaper than that.

I have heard a little about the Juiceman Jr., but really know very little about any of them except for the one I bought.

Any suggestions?

Any ideas?

Also, do any of you experienced juicers know if you can juice oranges in a regular juicer or do I have to have one with a special citrus attachment?

Hands Down Winner

Kind of funny to be talking about a winner with today being election day.   But, let me do take this opportunity to remind you to VOTE!

The winner I am referring to is my old ceiling tiles I asked your opinion on.

You ladies came through and sure shared your opinions with me.  No one picked the black collage of frames I had before and a few said I should leave the wreath on the tin, but the overwhelming majority of you said I should leave the tin with nothing on it.

A few people also said I should turn it upside down with the curved part at the top.  I had tried turning it before but it was harder to hang.  I ended up figuring out a way to do it and it worked great.

Thanks so much for all of your gifted opinions.  I love being able to ask you stuff and I love your sweet honest answers.

Headed to the polls now!  This is my son’s 2nd election to vote in and he can’t wait.
