My Simple After Christmas Mantel

My mantel is always one of my favorite things to change up because it is one of the main focal points in our living room.

Of course the fireplace also sits next to our massive 60” television set so really the tv is probably the focal point.   I just try and pretend it’s not.

For my after Christmas look in our house, I have focused on whites, woods, metals, and my favorite blue green again.  This is by far my favorite combination of colors and elements.  These things also get me in the mood for spring.

I really wanted a simple mantel for awhile since my Christmas one was so full.

I just picked up this wonderful memo board from Hobby Lobby a few days ago.  It can be used in so many ways and so many places.  Right now it will be artwork.

This is the entire fireplace area.

Dried hydrangeas are a staple in my home.

Ladders are a wonderful thing.  I have probably way too many but they are such great wall fillers and display linens and such so beautifully.

Pillows and grain sacks are another favorite thing of mine.

I love these French grainsack pillows.

I do everything I can do to soften the fireplace and the big huge entertainment center there on the right.

Painting either of these things is not an option so I use fabrics and such to try to lighten and brighten.

I have been having such fun getting my house back in order after the holidays.  I’ll be back soon to show you more of my wintertime changes.

Hope you are all doing wonderfully.

Blessings to you.

Such a unique and beautiful mantel Amy! I really like that memo board! Men and their TV's , right? I would be happy with a 35-40" TV, but my hubby always wants the HUGE one!

I love your ladder and all of your lovely linens. The grain sacks are wonderful. I have a tiny ladder in my house because I just don't have space for a bigger one, but I would love to have one just the same.

Hi Sweetie!
It all looks just wonderful! {as always};o) I have a fireplace, but the "mantel" is a window sill with a huge window. I still dress it up, but I would love to have a chippy old mantel!!

Happy New Year, gal.
I know it will be good.
Big hugs, and prayers, too.
Just rest in Him,
Becky

Amy,
Lovely mantle!
I adore the simplicity of the items used!
"Streamlining" is the term I am using in my own decor in 2013!!! Just wanting a bit more tranquil atmosphere!!!
I adore how you change out the accessories on your ladder. Mine is used for quilts, of course, I did "copy~cat" your stockings idea this Christmas!!! Thanks for inspiring me today...and everyday that I open All Things Home!!!
Fondly,
Pat

I think we have all the same "favorites"...hahaha! Looking good over at your lovely home.

I've been changing a few minor things around my home as well lately. I have a Show coming up and always need to go through everything and decide what to keep and what to sell so things usually change a bit around this time:-)

I love the simplicity of the mantel. Currently, mine is even simpler. It is literally an empty canvas at which I'm staring.

My very favorite thing in this post, rhough, is the lampshade. I love that!

So funny. we have such similar taste! I adore all things burlap and grain sacks and I just bought the sweetest vintage apple ladder and it's sitting exactly in the same spot as yours. Our home was built in 1831 and I would love for you to visit my blog! www.thetinsel.com

I also love grainsacks, ladders, burlap coffee bags and pretty linens. I need to take mine out of storage and put them on display like you do.

I am following you now and would love for you to follow back.
