Laundry Room

Hey everyone.

I have to ask you if you have voted.  Okay..have you voted?  I did and am grateful for the opportunity to do so.  (enough about that)

I don’t think I have ever shown you my laundry room because really you may be very unimpressed with it.  I do have some favorite things in there, though, that I would love for you to see.

sign 1

These baskets are a favorite thing of mine.  They were made in a small Amish community near where I live and I got them on two consecutive birthday trips there with my family.  We actually got to see one of the baskets being made by an Amish gentleman.  Such a treat.

I had seen a photo at some point where an old door was used on a washer and dryer for more work space.  What a great idea that was!  I took one of my old doors, placed it on top of my washer and dryer and voila…it looked great and gave me more workable space.

Love the door here.

The galvanized Xerox container holds my homemade laundry detergent and fabric softener.    I love having all of these things easily accessible.

door 2

Another favorite is this great old Col.  Cotton Blossom “laundry cart”.  I think it’s intended purpose was an old fabric bin but not sure about that.

mirror 2

I brought this chest out of the attic a couple of years ago, painted it white, and put the little shelving thing on top.  Great storage for table cloths, paper goods, cleaning supplies, and such.

dresser 1

I tend to have old family photos hanging around everywhere.  They warm my heart to get quick glances of them.

If you notice, I also have lots of  bags hanging around my laundry room for a quick grab.

Love my burlap bags. My mom made this one on top so of course it’s my favorite by far.

med cabinet

I picked up this great old medicine cabinet from an estate type sale this summer.  Love at first sight.

dorothy 2

This photo is in honor of my children and my wonderful friend Becky from Buckets of Burlap.  They all make sweet fun of me because I hang this pretty little towel in my laundry room.  No, I am not Dorothy nor do I know Dorothy.  I just love that someone took their time to personalize this and think it needs to be shared.  They like to call me Dorothy now.  I love them for loving me enough to pick at me.

full room

Someday I would love to have a pretty chandelier of some sort in here, but now it’s just the trusty old fluorescent light that hangs above.  I am just thankful at times like this to have electricity as I know many people do not right now.  I am sorry….

Thanks for stopping by today, my friends.

I hope you are all doing well.  Blessings to you.

Your laundry room is lovely, Amy. So many great ideas and pretty vintage touches. I especially like the old door on the washer and dryer, the vintage medicine cabinet and the window frame. I too am very thankful for my nice laundry room but it would be sweet to have enough space for a great dresser like yours. I am going to add a shelf above the washer and dryer one of these days though, for extra display space.

Amy,
This laundry room is full of textures...marvelous textures, indeed! Love, love, love your Amish baskets!!! The old door over your wahser and dryer is a superb idea...adore the creamy hue and the metal knob!!! Galvanized metal is always a subtle shade and that rolling laundry cart reminds me of the huge professional laundry visits with my MoMa in my youth in K.C.,KS!!! Your laundry tags are adorable!!! I'm amazed at all the storage you've manage to put in with such great design!!! A chandelier??? Oh, yes. . .I'll be back to see the reveal, for sure!!!!
Fondly,
Pat

Amy!
what is NOT to be impressed with. Your laundry room is beautiful. I like the idea of having an old door on top of your machines. I had a front load machine and kept both of them covered with a cheap dollar store plastic table cloth...but I like your idea better. (may I suggest...some felt on the the underside, to keep the friction down on the paint of your machine?)
The other things in your laundry room...so lovely, the chicken wire frame, the mirror, the dresser and shelf! ALL OF IT... wonderful.

So pretty, thank you for showing it.
Pat.

Love your door on top of the washer/dryer!

Well, Dorothy, I love it and it looks so much like you! I don't have a front loader so I can't do the door, but that is such a great idea. It gives it character too.

My laundry is boring. I just shut the door and pretend it isn't. Maybe after the first of the year, I'll do something in there with some pizzazz.
