Ironstone and a Barn Sale

Hey all!

Question…do you ever have the feeling that you “need” to go into a certain store?  No, not really need, but “want”.    I hardly ever go into our local Goodwill because I rarely find anything that I really like.

Tuesday, I decided I wanted to take a quick run inside and just see if there was anything good on the shelves.

Oh my, was there something good.   Sitting all alone on a top shelf just waiting for my hands to pick it up, was this little jewel.

Oh yes, my hands couldn’t grab it quickly enough.  I turned it over and it read…J & G Meakin, Ironstone China.

Guess what the price read…$5.99.  Yes, I had an itty bitty heart attack.

This pitcher is about 12” tall so it’s a great size to make a great statement.

Such a great find at such a fantastic price!!!

Thanks to whoever decided it needed to go to my local Goodwill store.  I appreciate you and it!

Now some other quick but very exciting news!!

I am going to my first ever barn sale on Friday in Hartsville, Tennessee, and I cannot wait!

I met the cutest vendor at the Nashville Flea Market a couple of months ago and she told me about a barn sale she would be hosting in the spring at her farm, Starlite Farm.

The Strawberry Patch Barn Sale is beginning on Thursday evening and will on Friday and Saturday.

Take a look at her blog for more info…

Will let you know what goodies I find.

God bless you, my friends.

Yay for that ironstone pitcher. In Augusta, Ga. we have a "luxury" Gw with a bookstore and cafe and I find a lot of goodies there. I adore the book store-fiction is arranged alpha by author. Have fun at the barn sale, it sounds exciting. We never have those.

Oh Amy...Meakin is my favorite ironstone maker!! I search it all the time, and grab up every piece I find in thrift stores!! This pitcher is fabulous!! My delight is the really chunky pieces, but like you, I would have snatched this right up!!

I went to our Hospice thrift shop today and bought 4 milk glass vases to add to the ones I already have to use in Mallory's wedding! They were only $.80 each!! I'll be looking for more tomorrow in other local shops!! Love the hunt!!

Hugs to you sweetie!!

I love it! I never find a thing at my GW. I have recenty discovered a Habitat ReStore and haunt the place so much that they said, "See you Saturday!" as I left one Thursday. Gulp.

Now, I have to click the link and find out what a barn sale is. I'm pretty sure they aren't selling barns...

Oh I can't believe that pitcher! What a score Amy! I'm completely jealous. It looks beautiful in your vignette. By the way, where did you get your drying rack on top of your cupboard? I've found a few online, and even purchased one, but had to return it because it just wasn't exactly what I wanted. Thanks for the comment this morning! So glad to blog with you :-) Laura at

OH, you are soooo lucky!!!! We have great Goodwill's here, but I have NEVER found a great, plain, white pitcher, let alone one that was ironstone!
It looks fabulous in your new space. love it! I hope you have fun at your barn sale. Sounds like a great weekend to me :)
I'm not sure what part of TN you're in, but have you ever been to Vintage Junky's shop? She has some fantastic stuff, and a great blog.

Just wanted to stop by and say hi, I saw your comments on my post on the BBC ;)
