Hey friends…new and old.
When I look around at my house, I see lots of favorite things that I use to decorate with.
I love galvanized anything and have acquired several pieces in the last few years. I love old bottles, especially my favorite blue green color. I also love old books and have quite a few stacks of them lying around. I think books are great filler items which, in my opinion, means they fill a space nicely and add good texture.
Books and hand towels sit in this great old locker basket in our guest bathroom.
A stack of old books with great patina fills this little area in nicely on our bedroom dresser.
An empty space under a little chair is filled up with two very worn books. All of this sits atop an old white cabinet in our living room.
Books and vintage white pitchers go well together.
These cubbies have always been difficult for me to fill. Books seem to work nicely.
This stack of books give great height, color and texture on this white secretary.
And, the best Book of all…the Bible. This Bible has been passed down for generations from my dad’s side of the family. Such an honor to have it in my home.
Great thing about books is that you can generally find them very cheap. Most of mine have come from thrift shops, yardsales, and a few were passed down from my grandmother. Cool thing is that she would write her name in them and if she liked them or not. Love that...

I love using books too. Nothing like them to add a little vintage touch to a room. I'm always on the lookout for new ones to pick up. Found a great red one to add to my collection the other day. Score!
Your vignettes using your collections are so inspiring. I'm really drawn to your warm and inviting style. What a treasure to have the family Bible!!

you've made my day ... again!!!

Amy,
Darling use of books! I love the older(vintage) books, as well. One of my great thrills is to find a whole series of books when thrifting. Some have numbers, some are the same color and by the same author. Books are great fillers in home decor...and yours are stunning! So glad that you are the keeper of the family Bible!
Fondly,
Pat

You have the most amazing collections Amy. I love it all...the green toolbox, the bible, and of course all the chippy whites!

I loved seeing all of your vignettes. The books really do add that vintage feel to all of them. I love the white bucket you have on your dresser and the green caddy always catches my eye.

Hey SIS
You have so many beautiful old books and you use them in great ways. That Bible is such a treasure! Love the mirror behind it, too ;)
So sweet how you've gotten some from your grandmother, with her handwriting ;)
Love the books in the cubbies, they work very well there :)
Miss you
Love all your photos and that green tool caddy is awesome!
I love using old books decorating also. Have them everywhere. And yes the Bible is the best book of all! Have a beautiful day Amy!
Love using books too, though I've been a bad girl and ripped the covers off some, not the really nice ones, I promise! Love them tied up with twine. Your vignettes are sweet and make me want to clean all the clutter out my bedroom, everything seems to find its way here en route to somewhere:-)

Love all of the touches in your home!

Hi Amy,
I, too, am a lover of old books. I cringe when I see people rip the covers off, or use the pages for wreaths, place mats, etc. Yours are lovely.
My most treasured book is also an old family Bible. It's cool to realize how faithful God has been to my family through the generations, and to have their testimony.
Thank for your lovely blog.
Blessings.
I love your books! We are planning lots of book themed projects for our basement--perfect in a house full of bibliophiles.
I love using books. I have a thing about the title going with whatever vignette I'm setting. I'm trying to loosen up and use them in more creative ways beyond that.
Amy,
You have used your old books really well...how wonderful that you have that special family Bible. I have so many old books and at this time , I don't think I have one on display...silly me:)
Blessings,
Linda
You have the perfect touch ~ your vignettes are always so very pretty!
We inherited my MIL's family bible last summer and I love having it. It's huge. Love your books and other elderly things.
You have quite a collection of old and well loved books, Amy. I like how you used them and I am going to revisit this post to 'teach me how' once I find some of my own. Love the little jugs and mason jars of course.
Hoping you are having a good weekend, friend.
Amy~Such pretty decor! I love old books-decorating with & reading them!
Blessings!
My favorite is the Bible too. That cover is beautiful! Keep it in the family! I think my mom gave her family Bible away during her early dementia days ~ we have never been able to find it :(
