Master Bedroom Update

Hey all.

I am still playing around in  my house and trying to bring about that farmhouse look that I so love.  The last few days, I have been working in my bedroom.

Because my bedroom is painted a dark shade of green, (that I do still love) I am trying to bring in a lot more white (which I also love).

Let me show you what I have been working on.

I love the white linens with the dark walls and dark furniture.  Amazing how accenting with light accessories makes such a difference in how a dark room looks.

Can I just tell you how much I would love to live in an old white farmhouse with lots of land, a beautiful old barn and maybe a cow or two?

Since the old farmhouse is probably never going to happen, I will be very satisfied with trying to bring that farmhouse feel to our home.  I will also be satisfied with five acres, two cats and a chicken coop.

***Just thought I would tell you that I am thankful today for each one of you who choose to spend a little bit of your precious time with me.

Headed to one of my favorite parties over at LaurieAnna's and the beautiful Debra at Common Ground

Dear Amy,
May you have a terrific Thanksgiving Day!

The white you are using is really pretty. Love the linens.

You are blessed to have 5 acres!!! Would be awesome.
Maybe you could do some artwork of barns.

God bless,

I "ditto" what you said about wanting to live in an old house. I feel the same way. The one in my head is sort of a colonial. I think one of the reasons that I left my place not really looking like me was that I thought my style wouldn't look good in my subdivision house. I'm doing the same thing and trying to make it look like I want regardless of the fact that it's not old.

I'm also bringing in as many whites as I can to brighten mine up too. You're one of the bloggers who got me on a white kick. I love the way you use so much of of.

Your master bedroom looks wonderful. I can picture it smack dab in the middle of an old farmhouse.

Loved your chippy white from the previous post. "It" wouldn't let me comment when I tried.

Trying again.

Oh Amy, I so love what you have been doing to your home but haven't had much time to chat since Mother has been so ill and passed away last week. You have done a wonderful job with your bedroom. What a beautiful space you have created! I love all of your white touches, all the linens, too. I want to do a headboard similiar to yours, I have it all picked out, I just need to get rid of my huge bed frame I have now! Your room looks great, very relaxing.

Amy, it's just so beautiful and restful looking.

We live in an old house with floors that are kind of on a tilt. We have old doors and high mopboards. I grew up in old houses and that's all I'd ever want. These old places have their quirks, but I wouldn't trade it.

Happy Thanksgiving to you!
