In preparing for Fall, I decided to redo my entryway a little bit. It used to have a beautiful old chest of drawers there that I would use for storage of table cloths, candles and such. It really never looked right, but I felt like it worked okay.
What I really wanted to put there was some sort of bench, but it’s not a very big area.
I decided to try out my old theater seats in that spot and even though they don’t quite fit, they work, and I like them there.
Y’all know how much I love words, right. I found these vintage flashcards at Goodwill the other day and knew I would have a blast with them.
Aren’t they great on my old window that I put chicken wire on?
Very often we will sit on the steps in the entryway and talk on the phone. Now we can sit on this bench. Guests can also sit here to take their shoes off on a rainy muddy day. And, the blanket on the back is ready for someone to grab as they head out to sit on the front porch rocker. Neat huh?
I have to say that I am doing minimal fall decorating this year. I am making subtle changes that don’t just slap us all in the face. White pumpkins…twine… peat pots… a little purple (not much)… spanish moss…branches…extra blankets…and a few other cool things. Simple, yet nicely done…I hope.
Will show you some of those fall changes pretty soon.
Blessings to you all, my sweet friends.

What a cozy little place, Amy! Those chairs look adorable together! I'm keeping my autumn decor simple this year, too. White pumpkins, lavender, moss, and chunky throws. Simple is always better! :)

Hello Amy!
I too have felt a strange quiet void over the Summer months & as I revisit all my favorite blogs, I realize what is missing... a connection of all the amazing women! Sharing ideas on their blogs, listening to one another & reaching out over the miles to comfort or laugh with a comment. I missed my blogging friends... it's SO wonderful to be back! :)
I see your home is as beautiful as ever! It just may take me a few months to catch up all all that you've been up to over this Summer past, but thats ok, reading your blog, my dear friend, will be the perfect way to end my day!
Hugs~

It's awsome. I love the bench (theatre seats), I love the chicken wire window, I love the feed sack pillows, and the table and chairs in the background. It's all so lovely and comfy. Wish I was there now, and needing that blanket.
You are so creative, Amy! That would look horrible if I tried it, but it is just perfect for your home.
I love words too!
(And I didn't get that message this time.)
Looks awesome! Sounds like we are decorating the same way for fall. Simple. Yes, I think that's what teacher/mommies need AND I just love it that way! Can't wait to see what you do! :) Have a lovely day.

Love it and love you ~ missed you Amy! Sorry, I have been MIA. A busy summer planning and conducting many weddings, showers, special events... along with all kinds of projects going on. Look forward to snooping around to discover all that you've been up to. LOVE you're home and your spirit.
It's gorgeous Amy!!! Can't wait to start decorating for fall! Enjoy your weekend my friend!

I love the peek into your entire dining room. Love that shot. I can not wait to get there, sister!
What a great place to sit or drop your bags. The window is great too, it's almost like mine in my sewing room. The flash cards are a cute addition.
