Project Attic Clean Up...Done

How much can you really say about an attic?

Remember that a picture is worth a thousand words.

Be prepared for the worst here, my friends.

So, what were the thousand words that just ran through your mind?

No, don't tell me.  I really don't want to know.

Let me just say that over the last few weeks, I have just been dumping stuff in there knowing that I was fixing to start cleaning out.

One of the first steps in our clean up was to pull a bunch of stuff out and put it into my son's bedroom.

Keith also had the great idea to open the attic window and throw out the garbage...

This is what was sitting below and the idea worked out great.

This wagon was filled to the top with trash.  It felt so good to get rid of so much trash and junk.

The organizing part was the fun part.

Just thought I would tell you what this rack is for.  I have done a consignment sale for about 15 years now and always have clothes hung and ready for sale time.  Very convenient.

Everything has a place now.  Isn't that wonderful?!

This is the floor!  I forgot I had one!!

Just had to show you one of the treasures I found while going through an old box.

This was mine when I was about seven or eight years old.  My family showed Jersey cattle and I had my very own shirt.  My first name is on the front.  LOVE this!

What do you think?

Are you in shock at all the stuff?

Oh, but doesn't it look so much better?

Darling- Your attic is looking mavahalous...just simply Deeevine! Isn't that a good feeling?

Well, I don't have an attic but do you suppose you could come over and clean out/organize MyHero's area of the basement. Your "before" pales in comparision. I will fix you lunch- No..wait~ it will be a long day-I will fix you dinner and have a glass of wine awaiting you and a hot jetted tub. What day would you like to come? Diana

Oh-Shoot...I think I lost my post by clicking out before word verification....

Anyway-what I said before is that your attic looks marvelous-sooo much better. You did a great clean up job.

Now, I don't have an attic but I do have an area of the basement (MyHero's little spot) that makes your "before" pale in comparision. If you would come over and clean out/organize that area I will fix you dinner, pour you a glass of wine, and draw a full tub (jetted) for your relaxation and enjoyment. What day would you like to come? Hugs;>) Diana

Heavens. I'm so jealous. One - cause you HAVE AN ATTIC! I have a crawl space over the kitchen - and TWO, you finished something!!! Good for you!

WOW! What a difference a lot of hard work makes! I am sure you must have a nice feeling of accomplishment. And I am jealous of all your attic space!

I can't believe the difference! That is what our basement looked like until it flooded :( But it felt so good to get rid of so much junk, not good junk either. It looks really great Amy!

way to go! looks so much better now! :)

my attic looks like your before post minus the tall ceiling and window. I wish I could arrange it better but have to work with what we have. someday I will clean out our storages and it will be a huge relief to move the clutter from the attic to a proper home in them.

oh, I miss my attic soooo much! We had a walk up attic that was 700 square feet in our old house, and we happily filled it with junk. And now, we have NO storage. Literally. Breaks my heart to see your pictures!

Wow you have been busy. I have a closet I need to organize. I am feeling guilty I haven't started after seeing all the work you have done.

There are very few domestic thingies that Ilove more than a great clean out! There's just something about the "before/after" that I like.

You did a great job. Love the idea of tossing out the window. I only wish that our attic HAD a window to toss things out of.

Now, you're making me want to venture up to both of our attics.

Yes!! Great job on organizing. Love throwing the stuff out the window! Liberation!!!

Love the ready clothes rack idea! YOu are very lucky to have storage space in your home! We have NONE! No garage. No attic. Barely a basement. So I have to be very creative and not "collect" too much! Altho, I have to say lately it's atrocious! I'm doing a huge clear out!! It does feel good!

And the floor, looks fantastic!!

Just kidding! Girl... you did a fabulous job! It feels good to gut and get organized... I know. I'm trying to get motivated myself to tackle the stuff in my home! Your attic looks great!

Okie Chic said...

Wow I'm impressed. I wish I had an attic... but I do have a garage that kinda looks like your before. You have motivated me to take it on should I say thank you? lol

I don't have an attic or basement--but I do have an old trailer we use for storage, and it looks very much like your before pictures--if not worse! So this is an encouragement. Thanks!

Who would of thought a floor could look so good! You did a great job. I wish I had that much room in my attic. I'm sure it was a ton of work. Love the throwing out the window!

This organization is inspiring! I'm definitely going to be showing this to my hubby, so he can clean the garage and the guest room that HE's cluttered!

You did a great job!!! Don't you feel good after doing a project like that? I do!

Farmchick said...

I bet that felt good to get that done! :) I am in the process of doing this in our basement so we can finish it after harvest. :) Come visit soon.

Henna @ AboutCabinets Blog said...

wow, what an attic you have, full of everything that is in your home, but you have arranged it good with the cabinets and shelves and the rod for hanging clothes, attics are for that purpose only to store stuff the best possible way for when they are needed

FlyAwayHome said...

WOW, "you clean up pretty good"....Love that attic, I think it's bigger than my entire house!

Jill said...

Good for you!! I want to be jealous that you have an attic...but I do have two big store rooms in my basement. Pretty much look like your "before" HA--there is some semblance of order in mine but really need some serious work!
