I Need Your Opinion

I picked up a beautiful piece of old ceiling tin this weekend while at the flea market.  I think it’s gorgeous.  My son, who had to carry it all over the flea market, thought I was crazy.   Just imagine rust and dirt all over his pants, shirt, hands and arms.  Yep, mom was crazy, but he happily helped me out.
What I want to show you and ask your opinion on is if you like where I hung the tin or if I should leave what I had there.   I think I know the answer, but I would love to know what you think.
I’m going to show you three different ways I have decorated over this little server in my dining room and you tell me which way should stay.
Is that okay?  Do you mind helping me out?
This is what I have had on the wall for a while now…

This is the tin that I bought…

And this with the little wreath hanging on the front…

So, what do you think.  Will you leave a comment and give me your opinion, please oh please?  Thank you so much.
I will definitely let you know what I decide.

Going over to Cottage Instincts for a great party.

Amy, the tile is gorgeous!!!! So cool, really. I truly like where you've hung it. For some reason, I'm thinking, would a small mirror (round or oval?) look good hanging on it? I am drawn to the juxtaposition of the shabby, crackly look of the tin with something shiny over it. Just my two cents! I love your find!

I definately like the tin and wreath combination. The tin is nice by itself. But the wreath really brings out the brownish texture on the tin--which looks like twigs against a wintery background. The wooden wreath really reinforces that.

Hi Amy, I love the ceiling tile and would go with that. Have you thought about turning the tile around so that the curved part is at the top, instead of the bottom. It would put the weight of the piece at the top, like a crown molding effect, and balance out the space where it meets the buffet. It's a great piece - wish I would find something like that!

Hi Amy
I like the tin by itself - it shows all the great details.
What a great find :)

I like the tin with the wreath hung over it. Something about the roughness of the tin to the sweetness of the wreath. Great find by the way.

I really like the tin! Way to go! How fun when you can pull something together like that! PS My husband and I used this Kari Jobe song for our wedding! This is our favorite version! Thanks for playing it on here! Have a lovely evening!

Hi Amy! I canned some apple jelly - but not enough for your apple butter darn it! next year -

okay: so as far as the tin goes....I really like it where you put it......no wreath - just hang it plain...it shows off better and compliments your other items.......
that's one girl's opinion at least!!

Love the tin, as is. Or possibly hang the wreath to the side to see what it looks like. The wreath adds to the organic look of the tin (which I love so very much....tin, huh? gotta get me some!!) I mean, like, as soon as I got to the tin picture I swooned.

Your son is a dear to carry that for his momma.

I like the tin standing out on it's own. Such a great piece.

Hi Ames (that's what I call my daughter-in-law Amy that I love to death)...anyway...I gotta say I really like it the 2nd way...just the tile up there. Now, having said that, I do see where the wreath echoes the circular pattern in the tile. I guess, in the end, my vote would be #2. However, YOU know what you like and that's what you should do. It is a perfect piece to own! I love it! xxoo Diana

I like it there Amy... what a great rusty piece of tin!

I think I like it without the wreath. Just as it is makes a good statement. But then you could add a wreath for the holidays.

What a beautiful find! I like it with or without the wreath. It does add a bit of Fall to have it there though, and it would work for Winter too.

That is so pretty! I can't blame you for buying it. I think it looks very nice with the wreath. Maybe you can use it for displaying seasonal decor?

Hi there! I like it with the wreath. But I think if it were me, I would flip the tin so the crown was on top. The only other thing I might suggest is something long and narrow with black hung over the tin. I know wall words are sort of trendy right now but I like unique ones that are special and fitting to your own family or yourself. I guess I feel like it's missing something personal and I did like the black contrast of the frames. Sorry for rambling! I do really love that tin though!
Sincere blessings,

I don't like it with the wreath! It looks too cluttered to me and takes away from the simple beauty of the tin. What a great find!

I really like the tin by itself! What a good son you have to carry it for you! How did you hang it?

Oh Girl, that tin with the wreath is a.ma.zing. Perfect as is. Perfect perfect perfect.

cheryl said...

I posted last night (for some reason it didn't take) that I prefered the wreath and tin together, but looking at the pictures again, I have to agree with some here...definately just the tin!

Oh, I LOVE the tin with the wreath on it!!! I particularly like it next to that ladder.

That's my vote.

Love the tin tile! I like it with or without the wreath, but have you thought about flipping it upside down with the molding part at the top? It really has a wonderful patina!!

Great find!!

Again, what a great find! I think without the wreath is the best, love the ladder and all that you have put on the table!

Hi Amy! I'm so sorry it's taken me forever to get back to you. I guess we're on the same wave length because I was also picturing something lettered on an old, chippy board of some sort! I think that would look great. I even think it would look good on a board painted black and distressed. I'd love to see it now that you've flipped it the other way.
Your blog is so beautiful and I love reading your posts. I dream of posting more regularly - I can't stand being so flakey. It's just where I am right now with how busy I get with the kids and all. I just get so scattered and side-tracked too easily I guess. ;).
PS Really loving that lamp re-do! Super cute and I also downloaded that graphic, so Frenchy!

Have a super blessed week dear!
