Fall Mantel Before...Fall Mantel After

At 1:30 this morning, while the rest of my family were sleeping and the hubby gone, I was changing up my mantel.

Keep in mind, this is the mantel that was only decorated for fall a few weeks ago.

It's also the mantel that I kept looking at and thinking how much stuff was on it and that it was keeping my eyes way too busy looking at all that stuff.

I told you...I am simplifying.

I want to show you the before mantel (which by the way, I think I have misspelled in many other posts...sorry...yes, I am a homeschool mom and didn't spell mantel correctly)

This was the mantel before...

Oh my, why didn't you tell me that it had way too much stuff going on?

And, this is the after...

It still has plenty of pretty on it but in a much more understated way.

It may still have more than some of you like, but I'm thinking it's working for me this time.

My eyes, at least, can rest a little when I look at it.  Know what I mean?

The mantel wasn't the only thing that got changed up in the middle of the night last night, it's just the only thing I have the energy to show you right now.  Five hours sleep does not work well for this girl.

Pray for me as I am preparing for an eight year old slumber party tomorrow night.

We are hosting a 50's party for six little girls.  And what 50's party would be complete without a Soda Shop/Pizza Parlor?

So tomorrow night at 5:00 pm, Lil Bit's Soda Shop will be open for business with pizza, and all flavors of milk shakes being served.

Heading over to The Shabby Chic Cottage for Transformation Thursday and Somewhat Simple.

Love the changes to the mantel. It looks wonderful. I am so trying to learn that the less is more is a good thing. Have fun at the slumber party. Hugs, Marty

I love the changes you made to your mantel. I liked it before but it looks super now. Isn't it amazing what a little change can do? Will say a prayer for that birthday party. Hope you have fun and post some pictures for us later.

Your mantle looks great. Sometimes after I take a photo of something then I tend to really see it. It's funny how that works! Hope your party goes well!

Love the mantel, actually both ways! But it looks great now, and the mid-night redo was worth it. Good luck at the party. Hope you get some sleep and the girls have a blast...want to see pics:)

I almost missed this. I'm miffed. Did they change everyone's blogger homepage, or is mine just wonky??

I don't have any updates there.

Anyway...at 1:30 I was finally snoozing away after a high intensity teaching session and the little "high" that always follows it.
You can come here and fix my mantel if you want. Loved your before. Love the after.

And I would LOVE to hear about the 50s party. I loved throwing theme parties with my girls. If you have some pictures you're willing to share, I would sure love a post.

AND Because you know I'm email illiterate, I'll answer about the luncheon menu here: It was a raspberry theme. She had pork tenderloins in a raspberry glaze, wild rice, and this great cold pea dish. She also had salad with raspberries and raspberry dressing. For dessert, she had a sort of raspberry and chocolate layered thingie.

I should have gotten pictures and posted recipes, but I was too busy talking.
