My Annual Weeding Out...But Not In the Garden

My friends, I am selfishly asking that the rain not come this weekend, as I am having a much needed yard sale. I will be having it Friday and Saturday, so please pray for the rain to stay away.

Remember I told you that I am de-Kirklandifying (I know that's not a word anywhere, but it worked)?  I am getting rid of so much.  I am simplifying.  I am ridding myself of most things that are red, brass, or anything similar.  My whole home has changed over the last year and I LOVE IT!  My home has now taken on MY personality and not a stores.  It has been so freeing to become ME.  How weird is that?

I wish you all lived closer and you could come hang out with me and some of my other buds who will be selling also.  You could bring some of your things and we could all simplify together.  We could also make a little money to boot.

Just a little note to tell you what I have done so far to prepare...

All things are priced to sale (that means good prices because I do not intend to bring anything back in)

Clothes are on hangers and on clothing racks where they can be seen easier

Ads are in two area newspapers, on a couple of free websites and on Facebook

Signs are made and ready to be placed in good traffic areas

Friend's items will be brought tomorrow

I will be up early early Friday morning pulling things out of the garage and getting everything organized neatly on tables or racks so that people can browse and buy easily

I want things to be pleasing to the eyes when people shop my yard sales so that they will stay longer and buy lots of stuff, so that means making sure I spend a little extra time getting things out and displayed

Of course, I always make sure my house is in good shape just in case a friend comes by who wants to take a look around.  Oh, and the yard has to be manicured since all those people will be here.  Honestly, yard sales make me tired before they even get here because I make myself too uptight about unnecessary things.

Do you have any quick tips for me that you can share before Friday morning?  Any and all suggestions are appreciated!!

Thanks and remember...NO RAIN!

Don't forget the ice cooler with Cokes and bottled waters for sale!

Try and relax...May the Son shine on your sale.
Here are words to encourage you before your Yard Sale... (not my words...God's)

She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.

She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.

She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.

She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.

She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.

In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.

She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.

I hope you remember these things while your busy going about your hard work the next few days and that the LORD will bless you out of it, come rain or shine!

You are so prepared! Way to go! Wish I could come.
I think we are on the same decorating page. In the past year and a half, I've gone from reds/golds/blacks to light and airy greens, blues and browns (with a touch of black, of course). I'm getting my kitchen painted tomorrow and I'm giddy about the change!
Best wishes on your sale ... and NO rain!

Good luck! I've never had a garage sale before but I'm thinking about doing one this summer. It does seem like a LOT of work, though!

I don't have any additional advice, just hopes that you have great success! Actually, just the weeding is success already, isn't it? I was hoping to have a sale this month myself, but I was called into work for two weeks so I am putting it on hold.

I know exactly what you mean about wanting to weed out, simplfy, and make your home YOUR home.

Of course, you realize that other thrifters are going to be brag-a-blogging about the GREAT FINDS that they got at a yard sale this weekend... And showing how they totally remade the stuff.

OK... one piece of advice just leapt to mind: You might want to take down the "Eggs .10" sign in advance of the sale.

grin.

Good luck on the sale! Im just now checking in and praying for your sake that its not torentially downpouring where you are. Because its doing that here. Ugh.
My plans for the weekend are exactly the opposite: my mommy girlfriends and I are going to a huge neighborhood wide yard sale tomorrow morning. We're meeting at 7 am then stopping by DD and heading off. Its a great event and a great workout...its all uphill!
Praying blessings on you AND the sale today!
Hugs,
Sarah
P.S. Id totally be hanging out with you if I were closer;)

Have a little fanny pack to keep ALL your money you are going to make handy...much easier and safer than keeping it in a box on the table...

My favorite part of a yard sale is the wonderful people I get to chat with all day long!

I always have donuts and coffee set up or lemonade. My son sells soda/lemonade for his "college" fund!

I usually set EVERYTHING UP the night before. So all I have to do is walk out the door and get ready for the rush!

Put street signs up the night before, if possible.

Most of all, I pray before I go outside and do any selling.

And then I pray after wards that I NEVER have another yard. Seriously I do this every. single. year.

Have a grand time and let go!!!!!!! I need to take that advice, btw!!

xoxo
